Comments on: Enable broken image placeholders in Firefox

I suppose the best way would be package it into add-on for non-techie users to install. Although the steps arent very difficult (feel free to share this post )
Mozilla do a lot of usability testing so all I can imagine is more people prefer broken images displaying their alt tag rather than a placeholder.

The only way it will ever become default is if enough people vote on it.

how is this going to work for an average web user? do we expect them to learn CSS? why do not FF people make that default as they should?

Fantastic!!! I’ve been wanting this for years and for a while there was an add-on that worked but it became incompatible at one point and was never updated. This WORKS in Fx 5.01!! I can’t believe they don’t have this built it, but still this works. Hooray!!!

Uh. Turns out I had pasted that CSS rule in userChrome.css instead of userContent.css – https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=672465#c6. Can you please delete BOTH my embarrassing comments now? Thanks.

The image place holder is still working for me? Im using Fx6 tho so maybe it was a bug with 5.x, I didnt notice when I was using 5?

This no longer works in Firefox 5.0. I’m sue that userChrome.css is read correctly because another rule there does work (enlarges the URL bar),

font-size: 16px;
}

I’ve been liking other people to a StackOverflow page that discusses this issue (Google “StackOverflow Firefox non existing images IE”)

Im not sure, I guess the UI wont allow you to style that part of the element. I had a quick look but couldn’t get it to work either, if you manage to do it, let us know.
